This is Spring Break 2005 - I thought I'd bring you a little bit of Springtime a la D.C. This photo was also taken by a representative for the National Archives and is now a part of our Capital's historic archives. How cool is that?

I am nearing the end of my second Pomatomus, but I have no pictures to show you, so you'll have to take my word for it.

Hockey is finally done for the year (until Summer workshops start). We've had HS Lacrosse tryouts all week long, and Spring Break starts on Friday so we're getting ready for a little trip. We're leaving Friday for New Mexico for a week so I will be non-blogging for a while. I'll miss you all!

SP10 -
So I'm participating in SP10 again, and I've already sent one little mini package to my pal. I've been really luck to have a very busy Pal of my own! She's sent me e-mail and e-cards and even sent me a GC to the Loopy Ewe!!! I mean seriously, could she have hit my weak point? I haven't used it yet, but I have a feeling that puppy is getting spent before we leave for vacation. I keep waiting for some more new stuff to go up, meanwhile, I have some Louet in my shopping cart.

The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow...

or at least my new socks will, and they're nearly as bright!
These are my Embossed Leaves Socks from the Favorite Socks book from IK. This is my MCY yarn fromEtsy, and I really just love them. The pattern was really easy, and I loved the swirly toe.

I am going to embark on some Pomatomus this morning, send help if I go missing....

ETA: I have about 2 ounces left of this yarn - and I only used 2 to make these - if anyone is interested in the leftovers, I would be happy to drop it in the mail to you - just leave me a comment!

HELLO Jack Frost!

This is what my window looked like yesterday morning. This is what it looked like outside after I opened my window and took the screen off.

Seriously, the snow is up to Kona's back. You can hardly go sledding in this stuff. No school yesterday, so I can tell you that many forts were built.
Much knitting accomplished yesterday. I switched off socks and knit about four inches of the Embossed Leaves Socks from the Favorite Socks book. I also knit about four inches of my second MCY sock. I am in serious training for Sock Madness.

FO Friday! (Kind of.)

I'm not counting these socks for the L&V Sock Marathon until I finish the second of the pair, but I will be at 1.26 miles when I am completely done!

And last night I started something new. A gift for a baby shower at the beginning of March:

This is "Judy's Grandmother's Baby Sweater" from Greetings from Knit Cafe.

I'm working this double stranded out of some hand-dyed chenille I bought about a year ago off of ebay. It's actually knitting up better than I expected. I'm also alternating with my other Basketcase Sock. I've got some Mystical Creations Sock that is going on the needles next for Project Spectrum. I haven't decided on a pattern yet - perhaps something simple and quick?

We've got hockey, hockey, snowboarding, hockey and lacrosse this weekend. Wish me a nap, OK?

The Eagle Has Landed:


Finished last night! It really did help rotating through the projects. I got a couple inches done on everything. I even cast on another pair of socks with some Posh Yarn from my stash. The April Fools Socks are up to 3 1/2 inches and the hat is at around 5 inches! I rocked the needles yesterday.

House Update:
The stucco is entirely removed from my house right now, and the house is currently wrapped in plastic. There are approximately 7-8 areas on the house that actually need to be re-framed because water intrusion has rotted the framing wood. Yesterday the basement wall was entirely gone. I'm actually going to lose part of my living room floor next week. I hide in my little office where it is warm and cozy - but they're going to be up here eventually.

I'm also mailing my first swap package this morning! The Magic Yarn Ball swap is the first to go. The Scarf Kit goes next week - I need to find a coffee mug.

My Scarf Swap Pal wanted to know the answers to a few questions:
fav colours? I like rich colors as opposed to pastels. fav yarns? For a scarf I don't like the itchy or overly fuzzy. any allergies? No allergies but I'm a non-smoker so the smell of smoke in my yarn/clothing makes me sad.

I received an early birthday present this week from my SP9 giftee/pal (the girl I sent to) - Yvonne at Loisirs et Plaisirs.

Yvonne is in the Netherlands, so she tried to send me Dutch things. The wool is beautiful and I may use it for my first Project Spectrum project. Thanks so much for the early gift Yvonne!! What a sweetie!

Mr. Sock Mojo was giving me the froggie fidgets yesterday. I got to the heel flap with the Eagle's Flight out of Koigu on my #1 dpns from Knitpicks and I slipped them on and promptly popped a couple stitches they were so tight. Grrr. I ripped, got out the #2's and my Eagle's Flight socks are much happier:
See? Happy socks.

Mr. Sock Mojo Says YES!

I ran into him at Starbuck's yesterday, and he scoffed and told me to come back when I had a real problem. So, as you see, no problem.

Here, are the socks!

These are the Slouch Socks from the Socks, Socks, Socks book. I used Cherry Tree Hill in the Peacock colorway which I purchased at the Loopy Ewe. I am now at .82 miles in the Lime N Violet Sock Marathon. Woo Hoo! I should make my two mile goal by end of March - no problem.

Next: Eagle's Flight in Koigu.

What's the verdict?

Do I have enough CTH here to finish this sock?



The pattern called for 430 yards and 2.5 mm dpn's, which is exactly what I am using. However, the Cherry Tree Hill Label says 420 yards. I even did one less repeat of the pattern on the leg....I do this with every pair of socks I knit. Loopy Ewe has this color in stock, so I could pick up a skein to finish, I refuse to frog at this point....grrr. Well, stay tuned for updates as we knit socks today!
